There’s something magical about sharing good food with the people you love most and when that food is fresh from the sea oysters enjoyed right on the beach, it becomes a memory you’ll hold close forever. Last weekend, my husband, our little girl, and I made our way to what locals fondly call “Little Siargao” a hidden coastal gem that feels worlds away from the hustle of everyday life. From the moment we stepped onto its golden sands, we knew we were in for something special.

Little Siargao may not be as famous as its bigger namesake up north, but for us, that’s exactly what makes it so perfect. The shore stretches out like a gentle curve, with clear turquoise waters lapping softly against the sand, and palm trees swaying overhead in the sea breeze. As we walked along the beach, we spotted a small group of fishermen tending to wooden baskets filled with glistening fresh talaba oysters just harvested from the nearby reefs that morning. Our daughter’s eyes lit up with excitement as she watched them carefully shuck each one, revealing plump, creamy flesh underneath.
