Sun, Sand, and Smiles: A Perfect Day by the Sea with Our Family

There’s nothing that recharges our family quite like a day spent by the ocean and last weekend, we finally found the time to pack up our things and head to the beach for some much needed leisure time. With my two sons, my husband, and our little girl in tow, we set off early in the morning, all of us buzzing with excitement at the thought of warm sand between our toes and cool sea water to splash around in.

When we arrived, the beach was already starting to fill up with other families, but we managed to find a quiet spot under the shade of a big mango tree right by the shore. Their laughter carrying across the sand as waves crashed gently onto the shore. I sat down for a moment to take it all in the bright blue sky above, the sound of seagulls calling overhead, and the sight of my family having the time of their lives. As I pulled out our camera to capture the moment, I realized our little girl wasn’t in any of the shots I was taking and for good reason! She’d already dashed into the sea with her inflatable arm bands on, swimming alongside other kids her age and showing off the little strokes she’d learned in her swimming lessons. My two sons spent most of the morning bury theirselves, working together so well that you’d never guess they sometimes argue over small things at home. My husband joined them for a while, helping them dig deep trenches that filled up with water every time the tide came in. Meanwhile, I relaxed and occasionally getting up to walk along the shore and collect pretty shells that our kids could take home as souvenirs. We brought along a simple picnic of fried chicken, rice, fresh fruit, and cold drinks eating right there on the sand as we watched boats sail by in the distance. Even with the sun beating down, we didn’t want to leave the kids were having too much fun, and my husband and I were enjoying every second of this peaceful break from our busy routines.
