No place like home and no wonder a song says oh sweet home, I can't forget my home sweet home. On sunday I found myself again in a home like no other to witness and also celebrate grand mothers and grand fathers.
Before I got married and leave my family church, every 26 July was the day set aside for grandma and grandpa to be specially celebrated by their grandchildren. This celebration was implemented by Very Rev Father Donatus Ukpong who is the Parish Priest in-charge of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Ifa Ikot Obong.
And up till this year, he still holds the celebration. I was invited by my mother to bring her grandchildrens to celebrate her and on Sunday morning, we all travel down to my place to honour the invitation. Reaching home, my mom had already left to church so the baby, my son and I dressed up and went to church.
Coming back from the church, she offered us a meal and then we relaxed till 6:00 pm where we all dressed again and heading to church pavilion where the celebration was held.
There, live band was set, their dancers are ragaza magica were ready. People were also present waiting for the priest to dismissed Eucharistic celebration.
When the celebration was over, those who attended the eucharistic celebration came out to joined with those in the pavilion and the chairman planning committee came out to open the event with a brief speech and after that, ragaza magica team were called in to perform.
After their performance, Eti bass took over till midnight. During the event, drinks, different types of local foods, snacks etc were sold by vendors. The event was a big fun full of happiness, Joy and excitement. The number that came out to make the event colorful was massive.
Around 11:37 pm, I, my mother and her grandchildren left the event place and headed home. There was no vehicle by this time and so, we trekked and reached the house before 1:00am.
