Motorcycle Holiday by Car?

Well, now it is official. Our motorcycle holiday to Oberwiesenthal will become a car holiday.

Actually, everything was planned differently. The bikes were ready, the luggage setup had been tested and we were already looking forward to a few nice days on two wheels. But then the weather forecast came along and spoiled the mood a bit.

Rain, wind and possible storms right from the beginning of our stay. That is simply not the kind of weather where you say: yes, perfect, let’s ride into the mountains.

So after some thinking, the decision was made. The motorcycles stay at home and we take the car instead. Safety first, even if it hurts a little.

But there was still one thing we had to check.

Our booking was made as a biker offer. So we were not completely sure if it would be a problem when two bikers suddenly arrive by car. Because technically, that is not exactly what was planned.

So we called the hotel.

For a few minutes we had to wait for the answer. And then came the good news: nothing changes. The booking stays as it is.

Only one condition from the hotel:

We have to bring our motorcycle helmets.

That really made us laugh. I guess the helmets are now our official proof that we are real bikers and not just people trying to sneak into a biker offer by car.

So yes, we are going on a motorcycle holiday by car.

The bikes stay dry at home, the helmets come with us, and Oberwiesenthal will still see us.

In the end, it is still a holiday. And that is the most important thing.

Safety first. Main thing: holiday.

Motorrad-Urlaub mit dem Auto?

Nun ist es Gewissheit. Aus unserem Motorrad-Urlaub in Oberwiesenthal wird ein Auto-Urlaub.

Eigentlich war alles anders geplant. Die Motorräder waren vorbereitet, das Gepäck war getestet und die Vorfreude auf ein paar schöne Tage auf zwei Rädern war schon da. Dann kam aber der Blick auf die Wettervorhersage und der hat die Stimmung etwas gedrückt.

Regen, Wind und mögliche Gewitter direkt ab Beginn unseres Aufenthalts. Das ist einfach nicht das Wetter, bei dem man sagt: ja, perfekt, ab mit dem Motorrad ins Gebirge.

Also haben wir hin und her überlegt und am Ende war die Entscheidung klar. Die Motorräder bleiben zu Hause und wir fahren mit dem Auto. Sicherheit geht vor, auch wenn es ein bisschen weh tut.

Eine Sache mussten wir aber noch klären.

Unsere Buchung lief nämlich als Bikerangebot. Da waren wir uns nicht ganz sicher, ob das überhaupt so einfach geht, wenn zwei Biker plötzlich mit dem Auto anreisen. Denn geplant war das ja nun wirklich nicht so.

Also haben wir im Hotel angerufen.

Ein paar Minuten mussten wir auf die Antwort warten. Dann kam die erlösende Nachricht: Es ändert sich nichts. Die Buchung bleibt genau so bestehen.

Nur eine Bedingung hatte das Hotel:

Wir müssen unsere Motorradhelme mitbringen.

Da mussten wir wirklich lachen. Ich denke mal, die Helme sind jetzt unser offizieller Nachweis, dass wir wirklich Motorradfahrer sind und uns nicht einfach mit dem Auto in ein Bikerangebot einschleichen wollen.

Also ja, wir fahren jetzt mit dem Auto in den Motorrad-Urlaub.

Die Motorräder bleiben trocken zu Hause, die Helme kommen mit und Oberwiesenthal bekommt uns trotzdem zu sehen.

Am Ende bleibt es Urlaub. Und genau darauf kommt es an.

Sicherheit geht vor. Hauptsache Urlaub.
