Knowing the Cardano cryptocurrency
<a href=" is a third-generation blockchain platform created to offer a more scalable, sustainable, and efficient alternative to networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum. Its native cryptocurrency, ADA, is named after <a href=" Lovelace</a , considered one of the pioneers of computer programming.
The project began development in 2015 under the leadership of <a href=" Hoskinson</a , co-founder of Ethereum, and Jeremy Wood. Backed by Input Output Hong Kong IOHK , Cardano was officially launched in 2017 after an initial coin offering ICO that raised over $60 million.
From its inception, Cardano has distinguished itself through its academic and scientific approach, basing much of its development on peer-reviewed research. Furthermore, it uses a Proof-of-Stake PoS system, which consumes considerably less energy than the Proof-of-Work used by Bitcoin.
Over the years, the platform has evolved through various development stages incorporating decentralization, sating, smart contracts, scalability improvements, and community governance mechanisms.
Thanks to its low fees and fast confirmation times, Cardano has positioned itself as an attractive option for digital payments, decentralized applications, and decentralized finance projects.
Currently, Cardano continues to expand its ecosystem while competing with other blockchain platforms like Ethereum and Solana, maintaining its philosophy of gradual growth supported by academic research.
