Blurt is a Graphene-based Layer-1 social blockchain forked from Hive and Steem, designed to improve content rewards, decentralized governance, and tokenized social engagement.

Blurt replaces downvotes with an asymmetric voting system that rewards only positive contributions, aiming to improve capital efficiency and support content creators. Currently, the price is subtly increasing against HIVE.

BLURT is a utility and governance token emphasizing censorship-resistant creator rewards, but faces challenges from low liquidity, validator concentration, and ongoing token inflation.

About Blurt Blockchain BLURT

The Blurt Blockchain BLURT is a purpose-built Layer-1 social blockchain developed on the high-performance Graphene framework. Created as a hard fork of the Hive and Steem codebases, it was specifically designed to improve content monetization, decentralized governance, and token-based social engagement by removing several game-theoretic issues that existed in its predecessor networks.

Blurt uses a Delegated Proof-of-Stake DPoS consensus model in which token holders who stake Blurt Power BP elect the leading block producers, known as witnesses, to govern the network. Its economic model incorporates several distinctive mechanisms that differentiate it from other Steem-derived blockchains.

One of its most notable features is its asymmetric voting system, which completely removes downvotes and negative curation rewards from the protocol. Traditional Steem-based social blockchains often experience voting cartels, competitive downvote campaigns, and loss of capital efficiency because of negative voting incentives. By eliminating downvotes, Blurt aims to maintain productive capital allocation while creating a reward structure that only adds value for content creators.

Blurt also adopts a transaction fee model instead of the zero-fee approach commonly used by earlier DPoS social blockchains, where network resources are allocated dynamically through bandwidth. Because zero-fee systems can be susceptible to resource spam and attacks involving large numbers of small accounts, Blurt requires a small mandatory fee for on-chain transactions. These fees help protect the blockchain from state-bloat attacks while also reducing the supply of liquid tokens entering circulation through inflation.

The network distributes newly created block rewards into a shared inflation-funded reward pool. Holders of liquid BLURT can convert their tokens into Blurt Power, increasing both their governance voting influence and their ability to earn curation rewards. This incentive structure encourages stakeholders to direct their voting power toward valuable content, thereby promoting demand for the network's native token.

From an investment perspective, BLURT serves both as a utility token, providing access to network bandwidth and voting capacity, and as a governance asset that allows participation in protocol decisions. Its primary distinguishing feature is censorship-resistant content monetization without penalties from downvote mechanisms, making it particularly attractive to niche creator communities that prefer a more predictable reward system. Nevertheless, like many low-market-cap, application-specific blockchains, Blurt continues to face structural challenges, including limited market liquidity, the risk of validator concentration, and the need to maintain long-term user engagement to offset continuous token inflation.
