Velika Aleja or The Great Avenue, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Hello everyone. Velika Aleja or The Great Avenue is long promenade that ends on the Spring of river Bosna in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Long walkway "guarded" with chestnut and plane trees. During summer and hot days it is super place to visit and have a walk and relax in the shade.
Near the beginning of the Velika Aleja are horse carriages that you can rent to take a ride to the Spring of river Bosna and back. Horse carriages have long tradition as they are used here since 1895. During summer you will see a lot of horse carriages along the way.
Promenade is approximately 3.5 kilometers in length. It takes about 40 minutes to reach Spring of river Bosna. You may get there faster as well or you may take your time and enjoy the promenade.
Along the promenade there are chestnut and plane trees. Chestnut trees were planted in 1888 and plane trees in 1892. So the trees are more than a century old. More than 130 years or about 138 year to be precise.
There is around 3000 trees along Velika Aleja. There are double row trees on each side.
Always nice to visit here and take a walk. During summer there are many people here.
This is how double row of trees look like. Such a lovely scenery with wooden banks along the way to rest and enjoy the scenery.
This is from my other Velika Aleja visit.
Lovely place to visit. If you are visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sarajevo dont miss Velika Aleja and Spring of river Bosna.
