Siegessäule or Victory Column, Berlin, Germany
Hello everyone. I want to share visit to Siegessäule or Victory Column in Berlin some time back.
Lovely place to visit. Views are beautiful. You can see roads, greenery and city almost wherever you look.
One of monuments and landmarks of Berlin. It was built in 1873 to commemorate victories of Germany against France, Denmark and Austria between 1864 and 1871. It was relocated from original location and the height is added to it. Siegessäule or Victory Column has a height of 66.89 meters. And how do you get to the top? By stairs which have 285 steps. And that is a lot of steps to walk. You start to feel it halfway through.
Look at Victory Column from a distance.
We are getting closer. There is underground passage that leads to the column. Or you can walk to the Victory Column on the ground as well.
Here we are. It looks lovely.
And now comes part about 285 steps and around 67 meters in height.
You climb and climb and climb and when you look up - you see more stairs.
Stairs. More stairs and more steps.
There are small sitting places. Cute small chair where you can rest a bit. Nice to have those places if you need some rest.
You looks down and guess what? Stairs and steps.
But when you come to the top it is worth the walk. The views are beautiful.
Where ever you look you see this lovely scenery.
Greenery, clouds and roads that lead to the city.
It seems that all roads lead here or from here you can go anywhere.
