Visit to Buna Canals, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Hello everyone. The Buna canal is magical place I visited some time ago. When you are traveling to Mostar, city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, most probably you will visit Blagaj as well. Blagaj is small village in southeast of Bosnia and Herzegovina. City Mostar is famous for its Old Bridge and river Neretva. And Blagaj has its river called Buna. This place called Buna canal or Bunski kanali connect these two rivers.

Just a small background regarding both rivers. Famous Old Bridge or Stari most in Mostar. Bridge is built between 1557 and 1566. Underneath is river Neretva. One of the symbols of the city with its famous emerald green color. It is said to be coldest river in the world.

This is spring of river Buna in Blagaj. Spring is in the cave under rocky mountain. Nearby is tekke built in 1520s. Tekija or tekke is monastery of Dervishes. And this is spring of the river.

What does these two river have in common. River Buna is tributary of river Neretva. And this place where I visited for the first time is place or their confluence. I did travel before between Mostar and Blagaj but this was my first time stopping and visiting here.

This is the place where two rivers join. On one side river Neretva. And on the other river Buna. Two beauties join together.

River Neretva flows in its bed where river Buna is on the higher ground. As river Buna merges into river Neretva there are many small waterfall along river bed. I did not expect this place to be this beautiful.

Sound of the water, landscape and two beautiful rivers brings very calming atmosphere.

We spent some time here and continued our trip. River Neretva is full of surprises. Lovely place to rest during hot summer days when traveling from Mostar to Blagaj.
