Berlin visit , The Brandenburg Gate
Hello everyone. Since last time I shared visit to Siegessäule or Victory Column in Berlin I will add prequel to that visit as Victory Column was last landmark visit in Berlin. It was my first time in Berlin and city is lovely. When you visit The Brandenburg Gate or Brandenburger Tor you remember it. Famous monument in Berlin. As you get closer in gets bigger. While passing through Brandenburg Gate you will feel the sheer size of the gate.
From the far away it does not look that big.
So lets get closer.
Brandenburg Gate is built in 18th century. It is built in neoclassical style. Its construction started in 1788 and finished in 1781. Its height is 26 meters.
Size compared to the people is obvious.
Long columns under the structure. On the gate there are many detailed carvings.
Brandenburg Gate is symbol of peace in unity.
On the top of the gate is bronze sculpture of quadriga. Also very detailed sculpture. It is meant to symbolize peace entering the city.
Previously Berlin had other gates to the city as well. Today Brandenburg Gate is only gate of the city.
This is the Reichstag building. It is government building and seat of Bundestag, lower house of German federal parliament. It is possible to tour the building but we did not manage to do so.
Neo-Renaissance building was built in 1884 and modernized and restored in 1960s.
Here are models of Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag building that are found in Victory Column that we visited as well.

Berlin visit and whole Germany trip was very nice. Beside Berlin we went to Koln, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Bochum and short stop to Munich. Also we used opportunity and visited Belgium as well. Brussels was nice addition to our trip. There is more to explore so new visit to Berlin and Germany would be good idea.
