Roman Bridge or Rimski Most , Sarajevo , Bosnia and Herzegovina
Hello everyone. Visit to Roman Bridge or Rimski Most in Sarajevo are always breath of fresh air. Every season has special effect on this place. I dont recall visiting while there is snow so these days it may be nice idea to do so. Lets see if I manage to do so. I visit here from time to time and these are photos from my last visit to Roman Bridge.
There is stone path way that leads to the bridge.
River under the bridge is Bosna river. In near proximity there is famous spring of River Bosna Park. River Bosna is third longest river in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The mountain in the back is Mount Igman and spring of the river is under the mountain.
Back to the bridge. It is built in 16th century. Between 1530 and 1550 during Ottoman period. Most probably there was older bridge on this place built by Romans so thats the reason why the bridge is called Roman Bridge.
Bridge is 50 meters long and 4.5 meters wide. Nice and wide walk area over the river.
There are total 7 arches on the bridge.
It is very popular destination during summer. You can see people taking wedding photos here. Especially during weekends it is not uncommon to see wedding couples here.
You can take photos from all sides and every angle shows something special and new.
With reflections in River Bosna Roman Bridge is even more spectacular. Here it seems like there are two bridges.
Reflections of threes are interesting as well.
One more important part is that here you can see swan family. I think they have house or nest near by. When you come here you can see swans as well. There was no any but as we were heading back they appearing from down stream.
They passed us and they come back near us.
Always nice to see them. They were quite close us, looking for food and swimming.
Lovely way to finish our visit to Roman Bridge.
