Warning these Cupcakes may cause Obsession
Hiii! Sorry I couldn't post about my pastries last week. I made croissants, but my family and I inhaled them all before I could take a picture...😅
Anyways, let's not dwell on the past, let's focus on the here and now.
Okay, so… I made this. Like, actually made it. In baking class. And I still can’t quite believe how good it turned out.
At first it just looked like any regular chocolate cupcake. But when I sliced it open, something about it made me gasp. Like a full-on Elle Woods from Legally Blonde type of gasp.
I piped the frosting myself 😎. Every swirl, every ridge done by hand with shaky but determined focus. 💪
I mean, look at it.
The frosting came out thick and rich, just the way I wanted. Smooth, chocolatey, not too sweet, but definitely sweet enough to feel like a treat. It held its shape like a little crown on top, and when I tasted it... it actually melted in my mouth. I’m not even exaggerating.
The cupcake underneath? Moist and chocolatey, with just enough structure to hold everything together. I was honestly surprised at how well it baked through. No dry bits, no weird spots, just... solid chocolate goodness.
What I loved most is that it wasn’t too perfect. There’s a little gap in the middle of the frosting, a few air pockets here and there, but I think that's okay. It’s got personality, and I’m kind of proud of that. :D
Taking that first bite felt a little surreal. Like, “Wait… I made this?” Yeah, I did. I’d do it again. And again, and again, and again, okay..I'll stop.
So yeah, maybe to someone else it’s just a cupcake. But to me, it’s a small victory.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!!!!
This one felt like the sibling of the chocolate cupcake I made, but just as full of awesomeness. A soft, golden vanilla base topped with the prettiest swirl of pastel pink frosting. I baked this one too, in the same class, and honestly? I think it's adorable.
I'm considering naming it, but that would be weird. Then I would just eat it, and that's just...wrong.
The vanilla sponge turned out so pretty. Light, fluffy, and just sweet enough to be fair with the frosting. Cutting into it was so satisfying...🤤 the clean line, the texture that looked like it would melt on your tongue. It kinda did.
Now the frosting… that’s where things get good.
It’s airy and glossy with those little piped peaks that remind me of cotton candy or whipped strawberry deliciousness. The pink frosting has a bit of a story too.
The teacher took what looked like a milk carton, but it was actually heavy whipping cream. She put it in a mixer and turned it on high speed; when we saw stiff peaks, she turned it off. She took half and put in pink food coloring; with the other half, she put yellow food coloring. She put the pink in first, then the yellow. Unfortunately, I didn't get much yellow in this picture. Oh well, maybe next time!
See you next time!
Thank you for your time!
