My First Impressions of the X Blue Dot Program

I wrote up a review of the X Blue Dot Program.

Users pay a monthly fee to get a blue dot on their account. X puts some of the money in a rewards pool.

The pool is extremely regressive. X does not publish stats, I understand the program gives back somewhere from 10% to 25% of the fees into the pool.

Even worse, most of the rewards go to celebrities. Celebrities already have money.

To qualify for payments, one has to have 5 million impressions over a three month period. That is an average of 55,555 impressions a day.

Users with solid content tend to get 600 views per post. Users need to drop a hundred posts a day to qualify for the reward! The reward structure all but begs people to spam.

Blurt has the same problem, We can reduce the spam by not voting for people who drop excessive posts.
